Creativity of sport celebrities advertisement between Malaysia and other country

From these videos, i can see that different cultures have different mindset about sport celebrities. Malaysia's sport celebrity is always just very common sport celebrity, but for other countries, their sport celebrities can even be like actor or actress those kind of celebrity.  For Malaysia, Dato Lee Chong Wei's 100plus advertisement is more straight forward and not really have any storyline. But in the other hand, Samsung galaxy's advertisement is much more creative and advanced as they have their own storyline and different theme for each video although its all samsung galaxy's advertisement. It makes people wants to watch and can more get attention from audience as they want to know what happen at the next hour, but for Malaysia's 100plus advertisement, its more common and people will just said that its 100plus advertisement by Dato Lee Chong Wei, that's all. In Samsung's advertisement, as you can see, although they are playing the football, but even the football can get attention from audience because that football is a small electronic robot. But for Malaysia's 100 plus advertisement, Dato Lee is playing badminton with those kids, but its just too common that people might will say that, oh, they're playing badminton together, and its doesn't catch much attention from the audience as the Samsung's advertisement. After watched these videos, the thing that comes to my mind is other countries sport celebrity advertisement is much more creative than Malaysia's advertisement. They can even coordinate with the theme of FIFA World cup to do their advertisementcFIFA world cup is at 2014 (once in 4 years),so people will appreciate this chance and use it to make more advantage, this is how they can be much more famous and get attention from people and make people wants to follow their trend.

Korea Sport Celebrity

Some of the sport celebrities that i would like to compared with are Lee Yong-Dae and Yuna Kim. Lee Yong-Dae is a Korea famous badminton player while Kim Yuna is a famous figure skater.
Lee Yong-Dae is a model for a fashion line named First Player. Compared with Malaysia, i feels that other countries sport celebrities have more chance on getting endorse on those clothing. For Malaysia celebrity, they're more likely to just endorse on those sport equipment or drinks to get more energy while doing sports. But for celebrities in other countries, they get to try out endorse something that not really related to sport.

Other than Lee yong-Dae, another sport celebrity that i would like to compare with Malaysia is Yuna Kim, Queen of the Ice. According to research, her endorsement earning is $8m a year. Can you imagine that how a young girl at the age of 23 can earn so much just for endorsement? She is the best ice skater in the world. After she won gold medal for the previous olympic, her profile got even bigger, she now owns a sport management company. She have endorsed Samsung mobile phone, this is totally not related to sport, but then, i feel that Samsung company will let her endorse their phone is because she is famous and it will influence most of the Korean to buy their product. Also, compared with Malaysia, Korea celebrities have more opportunity to become an ambassador of different brand but not only specific in sport. Other than that, Yuna Kim have the chance to work with other korea artist. For Malaysia, they always just make it as individual endorsement but didnt think of how if can cooperate with different field of celebrities other than just sport celebrities.

From this, i can see the differences between Malaysia with Korea. Malaysia sport celebrity is just sport celebrity, they didnt think of how if make them become a sport celebrity which is like artist also. For Korea sport celebrity, they are not only looks like sport celebrity, but also like singer or artist like K-Pop celebrity. Everyone will follow their mind or follow their step just like how they follow those K-Pop singer. But for Malaysia, it will only make those who loves sport follow those specific sport celebrity but not like Korea.

Sport celebrity

Other than those red people or singer, there is sport celebrity too. One of the most famous male sport celebrity in Malaysia is Dato Lee Chong Wei, and famous female sport celebrity is Nicole David. Both of them considered world No. 1 in both their sport field. Dato Lee Chong Wei good in badminton while Nicole David good in squash and both are from Penang. Dato Lee Chong Wei started to train in the age of 11 where most of the kids were still playing around with friends, while Nicole David started to train in the age of 8. Both of them have win many titles for Malaysia and they're the idols for most of Malaysian. After they became famous, they started to endorse or became ambassador for some brand, especially sport brand. Lee chong wei is an ambassador of 100 plus and Yonex. The reason why those sponser looking for him is because of his results, it can motivate and make youngster to follow his step. For Nicole David wise, she is an ambassador for Prince sport and Revive Isotonic. From this, we can see that most of Malaysia celebrity always only get to endorse those sport brand rather than other fashion or facial brand compared with other countries. Most of their advertisement or ambassador photos are just normal, for example, standing there and taking those products, not so creative as other country.

Influence of celebrity

As celebrity not only can be defined as celebrity that is on Tv programme, but also in youtube. There is a quite famous group "red people" in Malaysia, and the company sign up total 20 peoples for their company. The interesting part is the business people decided to pay them according to their number of "likes" on their facebook page. Most of these 20 peoples still not reach 20 years old yet. Their own opinion of why can become "red people" is because keep sharing photos on social media, have interactive with their fb fans, take more interesting life photos. Most of the internet users not so happy when they saw their "You're not red" MV, maybe because most of the user feels that its like saying them that they're not red like them. From this, what i can say that the definition of celebrity have totally changed in this century, in Malaysia. Even peoples who just get many "likes" on their FB page can become celebrity even they are not talented.

You're not red (You Tube, 2014)

I like the point where my friend TzeLi made, she said that Malaysian are more likely to criticize on those social media celebrity but for western country, they wont be as critic as Malaysian. They will make a point but not really like some of the Malaysian keep digging out all those old photos or videos to make comparison with the current photos and videos.
But, for the youth wise, compare with western country, most of the Malaysian youth in age of 10-12 still not that influenced by celebrity. According to the research, the age that American kids start to get influnced by celebrities is at age 10-11, 13-14 and 16-17. For my own opinion, they will start to indicate their idols fashion or other stuff and the reason why they will start at this age which earlier than Malaysian kids is because most of the kids at western country are more independence and more mature than Malaysian kids, their parents wont stop them to indicate their idols or go for their concert as long as they didnt do anything that will bring harmful to themselve. But Malaysian parents are more protective compared with western country.

celebrity in Malaysia

Celebrity
Celebrity is the one who can attract peoples to follow them and make peoples believe in their words and support them in mentally or physically. Other than that, celebrity also makes a brand new cultures or trend that everyone would like to follow.
How celebrity affected people
For example, for those who used to admire Dato Lee Chong Wei, they will like to play badminton during their free time or even watch his matches. For now, its FIFA World cup, for those who like to watch football matches, they will like to watch football match to support their own favourite team or football player that they used to admire no matter how busy they are. Sometimes, people likes to use celebrity to bet or gamble on, because they believe their idol can do it well.
For celebrity in Malaysia, i realized that it started turning a little politician when it comes to general elections. For example, Michelle Yeoh counted as the most inspiring women in Malaysia, she had been get attention by most of the social media when election last year because she appeared at an election rally in support our current prime minister Najib. She said that Malaysia is a democratic country and everyone are free to voice out.
From this, i can says that there is also some of others election team that might not so support, because it might affected their own supporters. As Michelle Yeoh is a famous celebrity, she will have many fans, and maybe her fans will follow her decision. But then, still, everyone is free to make their own decision. Sometimes, celebrity will be hard to voice out their own opinion too as everyone take their words very important and after that their words or decision will be spread out all around the world. And sometimes, people will make the situation even worst when they dont like the particular celebrity, they will make that celebrity as a joke.

Question choosen

After all, i've decided to choose question no.7 Explore the definition of celebrity in Malaysia and compare with another culture of your choice, choosing relevant examples to illustrate your argument.
According to Oxford dictionary, definition of celebrity is a famous person, especially in entertainment or sport. There is also celebrity chef. Celebrity chef is chef that is famous and always appear on TV to teach people how to cook some delicious food.
Most of the people will think of entertainment celebrity first when the word "celebrity" appear in their mind. But, there are several kind of celebrity, for example, famous movie star, Dato Michelle Yeoh, supermodel, Amber Chia, famous shoemaker, Dato' Jimmy Choo, famous squash player, Nicol David, famous badminton player, Dato' Lee Chong Wei and first Malaysia to go into outer space and first Muslim to observe Ramadhan while in space, Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor.
All this celebrities are from different industries.
Celebrity endorsement
Celebrity endorsement is most of the branding company will find those celebrity to help them to promote their product or service so that their product can get famous through those celebrity because celebrities have the power to influenced those consumers.
From this, i can say that celebrity is not only the one who famous in some area, but also someone who can get to influence others and the one who everyone wish to be.

Some questions that came out from my mind

For last week, i still considering whether to choose question no. 6 Analyse a soap opera or a a reality show, considering aspects such as the 'mise-en-scene' (setting, look or mood), audience, narrative and editing. What values and attitudes are being communicated? or no.7 Explore the definition of 'celebrity' in Malaysia and compare with another culture of your choice, choosing relevant examples to illustrate your argument.
For question no.6, i have some idea on what kind of show or drama i wants to explore. For example, if i choosing question no.6, i will think of explore on reality show more than opera soap. The reason why i would say this is because for my own opinion, reality show are much more interesting than opera show as most of this show is meaningful and can learn something from it, but for opera soap, it is quite bored for me as their plot are almost the same and we can most probably know what's going happen on the next scene, but for the reality show wise, they dont really decide for what's going happen and most of it are live show and what's happening inside is real as well.
There's some question that i will like to check it out if i'm choosing this question
1) How reality show works behind the scene?
2) Does it affect everyone's lifestyle if they watch this reality show
3) Does everyone in this reality show must be famous idol?
4) What moral value or maybe bad impression that will gives out to this world?
For question no.7, i've also think of something that i may want to brings out, for example, what usually happened behind those celebrity, we can see them as a quite perfect person infront of media and most of the people used to adore or worship them. I will also compare lifestyle culture of 'celebrity' between Malaysia with western country maybe.
Some question that came out from my mind is:
1) How does 'celebrity' affect peoples in their own country
2) Did they really bring happiness for everyone?
3)  What kind of celebrity will be more impressed or will bring good thought for the people in their own country?
4)Does every celebrity will be wealthy?

I will check it out for every of the question and choose the essay question based on which one i'm more interested in.

Analyse the topics

After i read through all the questions, i'm quite interested in question 6 and 7.
6) Analyse a soap opera or a reality show, considering aspects such as the 'mise-en-seen' (setting, look or mood), audience, narrative and editing. What values and attitudes are being communicated?
7) Explore the definition of 'celebrity' in Msia and compare with another culture of your choice, choosing relevant examples to illustrate your argument.
For the question no. 6, its about soap opera and reality show. The reason why i would say that this question is interesting because its quite trending now where most of the people will watch it during their free time. I would like to find out how everything connects together and form a show. How does those show affect audience, and what value does it brings out or maybe does it bring s negative thoughts to the audience?
For the question no. 7, its about ' celebrity', so, for this question, i would like to explore the celebrity, for example, sports field, model, or singer. It has various choice for me to choose and i can explore more in different terms of 'celebrity'. What is the difference between the celebrity in Malaysia with other country. What they will brings out? and does it affect much for everyone in our own country?Sometimes, celebrity can also be a role-model for everyone, but, in the other hand, some also will makes everyone follow their bad habits, so, i would like to research on how does it works.

why i deserve a free ice-cream or treat every week of class for this semester

By using the aristotle rhetorical triangle, first, from the angle of LOGOS, the reason why i deserve a free ice-cream every week of class is because lecturer have income, and they have the ability to treat students ice-cream for every week of class for this semester, but students dont really have income, so they cant really afford to buy one for themselve every week, although students have their own pocket money, but, those money have to use for printing or buy materials for their assignments.
Besides, from the angle of ETHOS, i believe that lecturer can treat students a free ice-cream because it is good for both of lecturer and student, for example, the relationship between students and lecturer can be better, maybe not just like students and lecturer, but like a friend. Other than that, maybe students will treat lecturer back next time, so its like treating each other. For lecturer, they much more experienced than students, they might know that treating students an ice cream probably can make them feel warm or kindness of lecturer.
Lastly, from the angle of PATHOS, this semester will be harder than the previous semester, thus, students will feel completely stress, so, we students need ice-cream treat from lecturer to make us more relax, enjoy and happy while learning. For me, treating is actually not just about paying money buy you something, but its about your heart. Lecturer do something that not everyone will do it even a common friend, so the person that get treated will be happy, and the person who treat will probably happy too. Its like happiness between each other.

Female Hackathon

Hack is not only about hack into computer system, there's also some other meaning on hack. For example, it can be create some apps etc. ESPN has held a public hackathon whereby to brought all the female hackers and college athletes together to create apps combining sports and tech. For my own opinion, having this kind of hackathon is actually a good way to make every hacker can communicate to each other and know more details about different way og hacking of different idea. One of the winning hacks are "management platform" for sport leagues named "the pack is here". It uses Google calender, Twilio and Twitter to monitor league communication, schedule practices and games, and communicate with multiple teams. It gets supported by one of the team members Margaret Morris's friends by tweeting to the hashtag #espnwderby.
I like the way Espn using hacking to introduce their own channel by organized some of this kind of "Hack" event. With this, hacker can become a more useful person by help those channel or company to make some apps etc.

This is one of the Espn API , it uses to tell u that is your town going to hold up a traffic if there's a game in your town.

Trained to become a white-hat hackers

I realize that, hacker can actually trained to become a white-hat hacker which is can help out all the big company or government agencies in the future. Through this, peoples will change their mind that hacker is actually a hero and no longer a bad people anymore. I found out that, in New York, there's students who trained to become a white-hat hackers. They are trained to help out the government and company to protect their data from cyber attacks. They are so called "new espionage". The professor and industry even created their very own hacking exercise for those students, because students cant simply hack into others webpage just to learn how to hack. Other than that, i've found out a very interesting white-hat hackers case study. He is actually a black-hat hacker at first, but he was caught by FBI and spent 5 years in the prison. After he came out, he decided to become a white -hat hackers. His name is Kevin Mitnick. The way he hacked system is nothing to do with computer skills but language skills. A professional white-hat hackers have to know all the skills though, for example, network, hardware or software hacking skills. Kevin Mitnick after that teamed up with Steve Jackson Games and come up with a Control-Alt-Hack. Its a game that pretend you're an ethical white-hat hacker working for an elite security company. The game is fun, but in the other side, you can also learn the ethical hacking at the same time. It will help a lot to let people become a white-hat hacker in the future if they are interest in hacking.

woman white-hat hacker

From my research, i found out that there's a white-hat hacker woman that i think is interesting to talk about. Her name is Natasha Grigori (Net handle based upon a US cartoon character). She had ran a bulletin board system for software pirates in the early 1990s and she is now the founder of an anti paedophile hacker group entitled antichildporn.org. The reason why this white-hat hacker group is exist is because they want to use their skills to track kiddie-porn distributors and pass the information on to law enforcement. For my analysis, i realize that in this 20th century, there's so many of so called porn thing spreading around in the internet. But, nobody can even stop all the spreading of porn videos. Through this organization, they can help a lot, they can even cooperate with other white-hat hackers to stop this kind of porn spreading around. For me, they are the hero who rescue all the victim who been framed or trapped to appear in the porn video.

woman hacking and psychology problem

From the last post, i've talk about the "cyberfeminism" which is the word that i found out is interesting. So, for this post, i decided to go further on the female hacking. Most of the woman who will participate in hacking is because they don't really satisfied with their own life. Most of them are highly educated and financially independent, that's why they use the different way to wreak their dissatisfaction. When we talk about hacking, male will come to our mind then female first, so, i found out that female who hack into internet have their own personal reason. From my research, i realize that hacking have involved some psychology problem. For example, case of Susan Headly. She was a very talented hacker. She are willing to learn just to show her own status in this community. She hacked into her lover, Roscoe phone and computer, because Roscoe decided to marry other girl but not her. Susan decided to revenge him by collected all this document to prove that he is actually a hacker. From this, i can see that hacking is not only just an interest for those hackers, but,it have relationship with some psychology things. How if we can change those bad sentiment into a positive energy for those hackers. For my own opinion, i feel that government can train those woman which have the desire to make themselves have more status in both real world and virtual world by let them be a white-hat hacker, and let them become a hero of hacker in the future. Normally, there's just a few female which have interest in hacking, but, most of these female have their own reason why they have interest in hacking. For my analysis, hacking can let people wreak their own dissatisfaction and we can call them the hero, because they are actually change their negative mind into something which is useful for this virtual world.

Female in internet culture hacking

Not only male know how to hack and know things about internet culture, but same goes to female too. The only difference is the percentage of male that have interest on it is more than female. Through my analysis, female nowadays not only have to be strong in reality world, but also in a virtual world, which what we called it internet culture or computing. Most of the peoples always thought that female are not really know how to use computer or do internet stuff, but, i have realize that, once they are willing to learn, it will be totally difference. There is a word that i found out very interesting, that is " cyberfeminism". This " cyberfeminism" started in '60s and '70s. It address the status of woman within the technoculture, and woman who interested in digital or internet stuff.
Through this, i found out a very famous female hacker, her name is Susan Headly and born in 1959. She is a hacker during late 1970s and early 80s. She is a member of so called Cyberpunk. She worked as a prostitute before. The reason why she join hacking is so that she could feel the power and this is the only way where she could feel her self-esteem because she had been mistreated as a kid, her life was not that good. Only she can feel the pride through hacking, because this is her strengths. Through her story, i feel that hacking is actually not really a bad thing, sometimes, it can give someone who is very good in hacking no matter you are white hat hacker or black hat hacker feel the positive energy if you are not really good in anything else other than hacking. You can feel your own presence in this community and you can also contribute something to this world.

Digital Art

This is artist Pauline Saglio's " Rewind" installation. For this installation, what that artist want to express is time is precious. Nowadays, most of the new generations keeo open up their phone to play games or see some things on the phone, but, nobody would experience the process of time in an in-depth manner. So this artist, Pauline Saglio make this collection of interactive clock so that everyone can experience the process of time. Since the digital evolution, nobody will realize the time passing. Through this installation, people can actually know how the time process and enjoy the processing of the time.

Another project that interesting is GPS Art Poster by Steve Coast. This is different from the traditional map that we seen usually. They using paper, software and print to make this art poster. I like the idea of they make this map more lively, its like we can know how many peoples will go to certain place through the poster. They used many effort on drawing the map, so, we can see the line and place very details and  clearly. It makes all the city in the poster interesting, its not like a dead city which means that it doesn't look like just a drawing of a city.

Fb community

Hacking is like a virus which spread around the world in a very fast speed. For my analysis, hacking doesn't just meant by hack into people's computer or website, but, it also can be use in term of 'virus'.
For example, internet Memes. Internet memes is actually a creativity of human. It is very popular in this generation. Memes is originally came from a term of biology. Spread of memes can be defined as spread of virus. It is because everyone's kept sharing this memes to each other especially when they are commenting on facebook, this is what FB community popular nowadays.  For example:
Figure 1 above (Halorlz, 2013) Facebook Memes

Figure 2 above ( Shuajaa Imran, 2012) sending memes to your friend on any IOS device.

They'll put in the memes whenever they are commenting on friends status or they'll just share the memes on their facebook page. This is the reason why it spread to person in person so fast. For my opinion, i think this memes is a good way to let everyone to communicate some issue and have a more deep memory on those issue. This is a good virus compared with the hacking which hack into others facebook to post bad virus.

Group hacking

Hacking is actually a cyber crime nowadays, which means that there are lots of cyber terrorism would like to hack into either big company or government website which have useful information or secret for them etc. But, sometimes, they will have difficulty to hack into those big company or government website by their own. So, now they are more organized and powerful, which they will group up together to break the security wall. Hacking is not only hack within their own country, but is between different country. They would like to arrange some hackers to other country which we called that as 'economic espionage' (spy) to stole some useful information or secrets. They can just make this hacking as an easy job if they cooperate to stole it in different country, they can either exchange their information or collect all together. For my analysis, through this action, they can even earn more money in a short time and also get more information or secret. Other than that, there is also war between hackers, which we called it Net Wars. This is something like they are fight between each other, this is always happened in between white-hat hacker and black-hat hackers. Government or big company will always have professional hackers there to help them cope the terrorism hacker. This is something like cyber attacks.
Conclusion, i feel that hackers have their own economy which is like they are actually doing business too, but its just in a different way with the actual business in this cyber age. They can actually make hacking as a good activities like the video of Cyber Security Challenge UK on BBC One Show. This is a good way to train teenagers to become a white hat hackers which help to cope with the cyber
war. With this, they can make hacking as a proper job, and make everyone change the mind that hackers is actually a hero.  Through this kind of activity, they can learned a lot from each other and have communication with each other but not only sit infront the computer and do their own hacking.
