From these videos, i can see that different cultures have different mindset about sport celebrities. Malaysia's sport celebrity is always just very common sport celebrity, but for other countries, their sport celebrities can even be like actor or actress those kind of celebrity.  For Malaysia, Dato Lee Chong Wei's 100plus advertisement is more straight forward and not really have any storyline. But in the other hand, Samsung galaxy's advertisement is much more creative and advanced as they have their own storyline and different theme for each video although its all samsung galaxy's advertisement. It makes people wants to watch and can more get attention from audience as they want to know what happen at the next hour, but for Malaysia's 100plus advertisement, its more common and people will just said that its 100plus advertisement by Dato Lee Chong Wei, that's all. In Samsung's advertisement, as you can see, although they are playing the football, but even the football can get attention from audience because that football is a small electronic robot. But for Malaysia's 100 plus advertisement, Dato Lee is playing badminton with those kids, but its just too common that people might will say that, oh, they're playing badminton together, and its doesn't catch much attention from the audience as the Samsung's advertisement. After watched these videos, the thing that comes to my mind is other countries sport celebrity advertisement is much more creative than Malaysia's advertisement. They can even coordinate with the theme of FIFA World cup to do their advertisementcFIFA world cup is at 2014 (once in 4 years),so people will appreciate this chance and use it to make more advantage, this is how they can be much more famous and get attention from people and make people wants to follow their trend.

Korea Sport Celebrity

Some of the sport celebrities that i would like to compared with are Lee Yong-Dae and Yuna Kim. Lee Yong-Dae is a Korea famous badminton player while Kim Yuna is a famous figure skater.
Lee Yong-Dae is a model for a fashion line named First Player. Compared with Malaysia, i feels that other countries sport celebrities have more chance on getting endorse on those clothing. For Malaysia celebrity, they're more likely to just endorse on those sport equipment or drinks to get more energy while doing sports. But for celebrities in other countries, they get to try out endorse something that not really related to sport.

Other than Lee yong-Dae, another sport celebrity that i would like to compare with Malaysia is Yuna Kim, Queen of the Ice. According to research, her endorsement earning is $8m a year. Can you imagine that how a young girl at the age of 23 can earn so much just for endorsement? She is the best ice skater in the world. After she won gold medal for the previous olympic, her profile got even bigger, she now owns a sport management company. She have endorsed Samsung mobile phone, this is totally not related to sport, but then, i feel that Samsung company will let her endorse their phone is because she is famous and it will influence most of the Korean to buy their product. Also, compared with Malaysia, Korea celebrities have more opportunity to become an ambassador of different brand but not only specific in sport. Other than that, Yuna Kim have the chance to work with other korea artist. For Malaysia, they always just make it as individual endorsement but didnt think of how if can cooperate with different field of celebrities other than just sport celebrities.

From this, i can see the differences between Malaysia with Korea. Malaysia sport celebrity is just sport celebrity, they didnt think of how if make them become a sport celebrity which is like artist also. For Korea sport celebrity, they are not only looks like sport celebrity, but also like singer or artist like K-Pop celebrity. Everyone will follow their mind or follow their step just like how they follow those K-Pop singer. But for Malaysia, it will only make those who loves sport follow those specific sport celebrity but not like Korea.

Sport celebrity

Other than those red people or singer, there is sport celebrity too. One of the most famous male sport celebrity in Malaysia is Dato Lee Chong Wei, and famous female sport celebrity is Nicole David. Both of them considered world No. 1 in both their sport field. Dato Lee Chong Wei good in badminton while Nicole David good in squash and both are from Penang. Dato Lee Chong Wei started to train in the age of 11 where most of the kids were still playing around with friends, while Nicole David started to train in the age of 8. Both of them have win many titles for Malaysia and they're the idols for most of Malaysian. After they became famous, they started to endorse or became ambassador for some brand, especially sport brand. Lee chong wei is an ambassador of 100 plus and Yonex. The reason why those sponser looking for him is because of his results, it can motivate and make youngster to follow his step. For Nicole David wise, she is an ambassador for Prince sport and Revive Isotonic. From this, we can see that most of Malaysia celebrity always only get to endorse those sport brand rather than other fashion or facial brand compared with other countries. Most of their advertisement or ambassador photos are just normal, for example, standing there and taking those products, not so creative as other country.

Influence of celebrity

As celebrity not only can be defined as celebrity that is on Tv programme, but also in youtube. There is a quite famous group "red people" in Malaysia, and the company sign up total 20 peoples for their company. The interesting part is the business people decided to pay them according to their number of "likes" on their facebook page. Most of these 20 peoples still not reach 20 years old yet. Their own opinion of why can become "red people" is because keep sharing photos on social media, have interactive with their fb fans, take more interesting life photos. Most of the internet users not so happy when they saw their "You're not red" MV, maybe because most of the user feels that its like saying them that they're not red like them. From this, what i can say that the definition of celebrity have totally changed in this century, in Malaysia. Even peoples who just get many "likes" on their FB page can become celebrity even they are not talented.

You're not red (You Tube, 2014)

I like the point where my friend TzeLi made, she said that Malaysian are more likely to criticize on those social media celebrity but for western country, they wont be as critic as Malaysian. They will make a point but not really like some of the Malaysian keep digging out all those old photos or videos to make comparison with the current photos and videos.
But, for the youth wise, compare with western country, most of the Malaysian youth in age of 10-12 still not that influenced by celebrity. According to the research, the age that American kids start to get influnced by celebrities is at age 10-11, 13-14 and 16-17. For my own opinion, they will start to indicate their idols fashion or other stuff and the reason why they will start at this age which earlier than Malaysian kids is because most of the kids at western country are more independence and more mature than Malaysian kids, their parents wont stop them to indicate their idols or go for their concert as long as they didnt do anything that will bring harmful to themselve. But Malaysian parents are more protective compared with western country.

celebrity in Malaysia

Celebrity
Celebrity is the one who can attract peoples to follow them and make peoples believe in their words and support them in mentally or physically. Other than that, celebrity also makes a brand new cultures or trend that everyone would like to follow.
How celebrity affected people
For example, for those who used to admire Dato Lee Chong Wei, they will like to play badminton during their free time or even watch his matches. For now, its FIFA World cup, for those who like to watch football matches, they will like to watch football match to support their own favourite team or football player that they used to admire no matter how busy they are. Sometimes, people likes to use celebrity to bet or gamble on, because they believe their idol can do it well.
For celebrity in Malaysia, i realized that it started turning a little politician when it comes to general elections. For example, Michelle Yeoh counted as the most inspiring women in Malaysia, she had been get attention by most of the social media when election last year because she appeared at an election rally in support our current prime minister Najib. She said that Malaysia is a democratic country and everyone are free to voice out.
From this, i can says that there is also some of others election team that might not so support, because it might affected their own supporters. As Michelle Yeoh is a famous celebrity, she will have many fans, and maybe her fans will follow her decision. But then, still, everyone is free to make their own decision. Sometimes, celebrity will be hard to voice out their own opinion too as everyone take their words very important and after that their words or decision will be spread out all around the world. And sometimes, people will make the situation even worst when they dont like the particular celebrity, they will make that celebrity as a joke.

Question choosen

After all, i've decided to choose question no.7 Explore the definition of celebrity in Malaysia and compare with another culture of your choice, choosing relevant examples to illustrate your argument.
According to Oxford dictionary, definition of celebrity is a famous person, especially in entertainment or sport. There is also celebrity chef. Celebrity chef is chef that is famous and always appear on TV to teach people how to cook some delicious food.
Most of the people will think of entertainment celebrity first when the word "celebrity" appear in their mind. But, there are several kind of celebrity, for example, famous movie star, Dato Michelle Yeoh, supermodel, Amber Chia, famous shoemaker, Dato' Jimmy Choo, famous squash player, Nicol David, famous badminton player, Dato' Lee Chong Wei and first Malaysia to go into outer space and first Muslim to observe Ramadhan while in space, Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor.
All this celebrities are from different industries.
Celebrity endorsement
Celebrity endorsement is most of the branding company will find those celebrity to help them to promote their product or service so that their product can get famous through those celebrity because celebrities have the power to influenced those consumers.
From this, i can say that celebrity is not only the one who famous in some area, but also someone who can get to influence others and the one who everyone wish to be.

Some questions that came out from my mind

For last week, i still considering whether to choose question no. 6 Analyse a soap opera or a a reality show, considering aspects such as the 'mise-en-scene' (setting, look or mood), audience, narrative and editing. What values and attitudes are being communicated? or no.7 Explore the definition of 'celebrity' in Malaysia and compare with another culture of your choice, choosing relevant examples to illustrate your argument.
For question no.6, i have some idea on what kind of show or drama i wants to explore. For example, if i choosing question no.6, i will think of explore on reality show more than opera soap. The reason why i would say this is because for my own opinion, reality show are much more interesting than opera show as most of this show is meaningful and can learn something from it, but for opera soap, it is quite bored for me as their plot are almost the same and we can most probably know what's going happen on the next scene, but for the reality show wise, they dont really decide for what's going happen and most of it are live show and what's happening inside is real as well.
There's some question that i will like to check it out if i'm choosing this question
1) How reality show works behind the scene?
2) Does it affect everyone's lifestyle if they watch this reality show
3) Does everyone in this reality show must be famous idol?
4) What moral value or maybe bad impression that will gives out to this world?
For question no.7, i've also think of something that i may want to brings out, for example, what usually happened behind those celebrity, we can see them as a quite perfect person infront of media and most of the people used to adore or worship them. I will also compare lifestyle culture of 'celebrity' between Malaysia with western country maybe.
Some question that came out from my mind is:
1) How does 'celebrity' affect peoples in their own country
2) Did they really bring happiness for everyone?
3)  What kind of celebrity will be more impressed or will bring good thought for the people in their own country?
4)Does every celebrity will be wealthy?

I will check it out for every of the question and choose the essay question based on which one i'm more interested in.
